Speak Freely. Every Voice Deserves To Be Heard.
Stuttering Therapy for Adults, Teens and Children
For people who stutter and the families who support them – you are in the right place.
You already know how stuttering can affect everyday life.
For an adult — it’s the job interview rehearsed a hundred times, the restaurant order that brings a wave of anxiety, the meeting where you held back when you had something worth saying.
For a teenager — it’s the hand that doesn’t go up in class, the conversation avoided, the phone call dreaded.
For a child — it might look like frustration when the words won’t come, or growing reluctance to speak up at all.
Stuttering can look different for everyone. But the experience underneath can often feel the same – the anticipation, the avoidance, the exhaustion of working so hard just to be heard.
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
Therapy built around your goals.
Finding the right stuttering therapist changes everything. I’m Kelly Cahill, a speech-language pathologist with over 20 years of experience specializing in stuttering therapy for adults, teens and children. My approach is never one size fits all. We start with what matters most to you. Some clients want to stutter more openly and freely. Some want to work toward greater fluency. And some want something in between. Wherever you are and whatever you want from therapy – that’s where we start.
Who I Work With
Adults
Whether you’ve been in therapy before or you’re considering it for the first time, it’s never too late. I work with adults to understand their stuttering, set their own speaking goals, and move toward communicating more freely in the situations that matter most.
Teens
The teenage years are hard enough without stuttering adding to the pressure. I work with teens to reduce the physical and emotional impact of stuttering, build resilience and develop communication skills that serve them in school, socially and beyond.
Children
Stuttering often begins in early childhood and early support makes a real difference. I work with preschool and school-age children using play-based, child-friendly approaches that build communication confidence from the start. Parents are an essential part of the process every step of the way.
What Becomes Possible
When stuttering no longer holds you back – or your child, things can open up:
- The conversation you have been avoiding
- The opportunity you felt hesitant to go after
- The hand raised in class without hesitation
- The phone call made without dread
- The meeting where you say exactly what you have been thinking
This is what therapy can make possible. Not perfection. But the freedom to show up more fully – in your own voice, on your own terms.
Without the right support, avoidance can tend to grow over time. The situations get smaller. The things left unsaid accumulate.
You don’t have to stay there.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is stuttering therapy effective for adults?
Yes — adults make meaningful progress in stuttering therapy at any age. Whether you are seeking therapy for the first time or returning after trying other approaches, therapy can help you communicate with greater ease and confidence. It is never too late to start.
How is your approach different from other stuttering therapists?
Every client is different – and so is every therapy plan. Some people want to stutter more openly and freely. Some want to work toward greater fluency. Most want something in between. We start with what matters most to you and build from there.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes — virtual sessions are available for clients throughout Tennessee and New Jersey. Teletherapy works well for stuttering therapy across all ages and is a convenient option for clients who prefer virtual or live outside the Nashville area.
Do you work with young children who stutter?
Yes — I work with children as young as preschool age. Early evaluation and intervention is always recommended if you have any concern about your child’s fluency, even if they have only been stuttering for a short time.
Do you accept insurance?
My practice is private-pay, which means insurance is not billed directly. Sessions can be paid with all major credit cards as well as HSA and FSA cards. I am happy to provide invoices and superbills you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. For information about session fees please reach out during your free consultation call.
